I strive to offer a heart-centered and inclusive Forest Therapy practice. I’d be honored if you joined me.

After working for 10 years in the public sector to help people connect to and protect urban nature in Chicago, I went through a transitional period of facing a challenging chronic illness while raising my two young kids. During that time, I learned (and am still learning) the importance of also connecting to oneself, with compassion.

Being a forest therapy guide allows me to combine these two passions — helping people tend to their relationship with themselves and to their relationship with nature (which includes humankind too), with compassion.

Originally from Toledo, Ohio, I spent about 15 years living and working in Chicago before moving just over the border to Evanston. I live with my beloved husband and two kids, and my best friend, pug-hound mix Mali.

My background is in environmental studies, and I have more recently been studying mind-body practices for nervous system regulation and healing, including Somatic Attachment Therapy, Inner Relationship Focusing, HearthMath, and more.

I am certified by the Association for Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs as of March 2022.

What People Are Saying

“I highly recommend Sarah's tree therapy walk as a means to finding serenity and focus through connecting more deeply to one's natural environment.”

— Allison

“Sarah created an impeccable experience for her guests to feel totally safe and cared for in the woods so that they may connect on a deeper level with nature. The results of my time in the forest with Sarah were dramatic and instant — calm, peaceful, present, and full of gratitude. I cannot wait to do it again!”

— Lyndon

“I was deeply moved by my experience of forest therapy. So much beauty and truth was revealed - not by Sarah, or even nature per se, but by some sort of higher wisdom that happens when you slow down and notice what is around. As we were wrapping up I realized there was much to take home and integrate into my day-to-day life, and I felt lots of appreciation and respect for the work that Sarah is doing.”

— Brit

“This experience was like no other. I felt so peaceful and at ease. I felt well. I felt connected to you and the earth. This was so beneficial, I wish I could do it daily.”

— Mary Ellen
